Description

I just got a print of my Sketchbook so now it's time to review it.

Maybe you'll find this review unfair 'cause I'm the one who made the book, but read it and decide for yourself.

Content: Well I wish I would have had the chance to include more pieces but the price would have been too high. Still the included content fits perfectly with the rest. Even the different art styles in which I have drawn over the years come together nicely.

Print Quality: Way better than anything I've gotten from Cafepress. The color is vibrant and there's no pixelation anywhere. Not even on the picture that I expected would be problematic due to its small size. There are some pages, mainly the two without art, that got cut in weird places, but since they don't have art it doesn't really matter.

Paper Quality: It's good, better than most, but I like Comixpress paper better. It's a good thing I didn't order it with glossy paper 'cause it really doesn't need it.

Shipping: The plastic bag they sent it in is a piece of crap. It broke as soon as I opened it. Good thing I have good quality comic bags in which to put it in. The Book arrived in PERFECT condition. That's great considering the Post Office aren't known to handle these with the care it requires.

Ordering & Delivery: It took some time for the order to be processed and I admit I had to send an e-mail to Ka-Blam 's staff to check what was going on. It's something that I guess only the creator of the book may have to go through and not regular customers. They apparently thought that I had changed something in the book, not noticing I placed a re-order. (you need to place an order so you can have it show on indyplanet) Once I got the invoice and paid the process went smoothly. Got it 2 days after getting the e-mail that it had been shipped.

Bottom Line: Do I recommend Ka-Blam for printing an artbook or comic? Hell yes. The quality of the print is better than some of my comic stand bought comics. Also the way they put it together is better than some of those you buy at a comic con for $15 I would prefer if those mainstream artists got their book printed with Ka-blam or did what =PatCarlucci did with his books and print them on comixpress. The main difference between the two is that Ka-blam doesn't have setup fees, which is even greater for indy artists. If you end up going there to print your book, let them know that Zairyo sent you.
